Shashi is the star of Partition. At the age of 25, she went against her traditional Indian family and decided to have a love marriage instead of an arranged marriage.

Ghidari is the family patriach. He's opposed to Shashi's marriage because the groom is from a different caste and community. He forbade anyone in the family from attending.

Shrada is Shashi's cousin. They grew up in the same house, but Shrada says she'll definately have an arranged marriage.
