Have you heard the one about the broken window?

The “broken window” theory goes like this: If even one window in a well-tended neighborhood is broken, it can start to bring down the neighborhood and make people in the area behave unlawfully. And this is the principle the City of Oakland is using to attack grime and crime.

City Manager Robert Bobb is leading the fight. Bobb has been in office since November 1997 and is creating programs to guide the City's departments to work collaboratively on cleaning up the city.
