Lakshmi Sarah

Born and raised in California, Lakshmi is an educator and a journalist. With roots in Kochi, Prague and San Francisco she divides her time between the places she feels at home. Over the past few years, she have worked with newspapers, radio and magazines from Gaborone, Botswana to Los Angeles, California. She taught in Ladakh, India, and spent a year as a Fulbright fellow teaching, and doing freelance work in Germany. She has lived and worked in India for three years, working with Indicorps (a non-profit), Navdanya‘s biodiversity farm and Druk White Lotus School. She has seven years of experience working with the National Student Leadership Conference on programs relating to International Diplomacy, Globalization, and Journalism & Mass Communication. From 2009-2011 she directed the program on Journalism & Mass Communication at American University in Washington, DC and Berkeley, California. She is a graduate of Pitzer College in California where she studied Global Communications and Studio Arts. She spent a year in Denmark as a Master’s student in Journalism, Media and Globalization at Aarhus University and she is presently a Master’s student at the UC Berkeley School of Journalism.
