Finding Space to be Queer in India

Kitty Su is the only queer nightclub of its kind in Delhi: one that hosts drag shows and almost-nightly parties. People from all corners of the city show up to dance, drink and celebrate. It was just last year that India decriminalized homosexuality and celebration still hangs in the air. But it’s not all rosy: beyond the nightclub, queer people are still fighting for their human and civil rights.

Nina Sparling and Brandon Yadegari bring us an update on the state of queer life in India. A heads up that this story contains descriptions of sexual assault that might not be suitable for all listeners.
