Then and now: Chicanas’ push for social change

In 1968, thousands of Mexican-American students from all over East LA staged a massive weeklong walkout. They were protesting unfair education conditions. Young women, known as Chicanas, played a pivotal role in making these blowouts a success. Decades later, younger Chicanas are using their personal talents to push for educational opportunities in their communities.
