The Flint Water Crisis Persists as Tensions Rise

Not much has changed since the Flint Water Crisis made national headlines in October 2015. In April 2014, Michigan government officials decided to switch Flint’s water source from the Great Lakes Water Authority to the Flint River that is contaminated with lead, carcinogens and other toxic waste as a “cost-saving measure.” There is no cure for lead poisoning so people continue to develop rashes and experience mental and physical health issues. There is a crisis of confidence, a problem that can’t be corrected by new policies or legislation.
