Oak Fire

Climate change and housing availability are coming head-to-head in Oakland, where the Planning Commission is struggling to draw boundaries for building expansion. In the hills, where the high wildfire danger was evidenced in the 1991 Tunnel Fire that killed 25 people, city planners must balance three competing values: housing, public safety, and equity.
