Girls on Fire

Even in 2019, female firefighters are still something of an anomaly. Nationally they make up just four percent of all fire fighters, and even fewer fire chiefs. Whether it’s because of perceived physical barriers, or just a lack of exposure to the profession, many women don’t consider it a career option of themselves. That’s why Jen Ladouceur started the Berkeley Ignite Academy; a two-day training camp designed to get women and girls fired up about firefighting.
