Audio Postcard from the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra

The Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra, led by principal conductor Omid Zoufonoun, rehearses every Sunday at Laney College in downtown Oakland. Consisting of nearly 90 members, students come from all over the Bay Area to participate in the orchestra. Auditions for the orchestra are held in May and August and students range in age from 12 to 22.

The Youth Orchestra will hold a spring concert on Sunday, May 22 at the Castro Valley Center for the Arts. The program features the work of Grant Griffin, this year’s young composer competition winner, as well as works by Vieuxtemps, Tchaikovsky, and Dvorak.
