Constance Johnson and her two kids have been homeless in the East Bay for three years, bouncing from their car to storefronts and homeless shelters in the East Bay. But they are getting ready to move into their new place. Not an apartment or a house, but a converted school bus.
Johnson and a group of UC Berkeley volunteers have been working for a year to transform the clunky, rusty school bus into a bright and beautiful home. The bus is almostĀ ready and the family will move in as soon as they find the money to fix mechanical issues and secure a place to park it.
