The 2017 MLB season has already earned the moniker the “Year of the Home Run.” That’s because more home runs were hit this year than any other year in the sport 148-year history. The previous record wasn’t just broken, it was shattered.
As a whole, it’s been a great development for the sport. Attendance, fan interest and revenues are all high as ever. But some are skeptical. How is that home runs have increased by more than 45 percent over the past three seasons?
An increasing amount of players and observers are convinced it has something to do with the ball itself.
