The Chinese Closet: Youth and HIV

HIV is on the rise in China’s gay community. And it’s now spreading into the country’s gay youth.

According to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of HIV positive high school and college students increased by thirty five percent each year from 2011 to 2015. But HIV hit gay students much harder than straight students. The Chinese CDC also reports that from 2014 to October 2015, gay students accounted for more than eighty percent of new student HIV infections.
