From Illness to Ironman

Jen Magnuson was working as a police officer when she noticed a rash on her face one day. She brushed it off, thinking it was wind burn from a cold, evening accident case she was working on. As weeks went by, the rash spread across her face, shoulders and hips, and her muscles became progressively weaker. One day she knew she needed to go to the doctor, and she was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder called Dermatomyositis. Jen began training for an Ironman triathlon in an attempt to take back her body from her disease and left it all on the track on that day in 2008.
